The overall objective of the proposed IEF project focuses on the source noise reduction of airframe noise due to the landing gear cavities; specifically the cavity tones produced as a result of a fluid-dynamic or fluid-resonant oscillation by controlling cavity flow oscillations, with the aim to generate solutions that will bring improvement towards the ACARE objectives.
Work PackagesThe research will be organised around four themes:
- Design consideration of the cavity.
- Passive control strategies.
- Active control strategies.
- Experimental validation in the anechoic chamber.
